When love isn't the problem, but something still isn't working

Relationships hold the most meaning and, often, a great deal of pain in our lives. When things feel difficult to parse, stuck, or distant, it can color everything else you’re trying to sort through or make sense of.

Couples and relationship therapy at Past Forward Therapy offers a space to slow down together, understand what’s actually happening beneath the surface, and gain clarity. It’s not only about understanding the “why,” but about deciding the “how” and “where to next?” together. It’s about integration.

I work with couples and partners of all identities, orientations, and relationship structures. This is a queer-affirming, sex-positive, and relationally attuned space.

WHO RELATIONSHIP THERAPY IS FOR

You might benefit from couples therapy if…

  • You keep having the same argument without resolution

  • There’s emotional distance, disconnection, or resentment building

  • Trust has been broken and you’re not sure how to rebuild it

  • You and your partner(s) have different needs around intimacy, sex, or closeness

  • A major life change is putting stress on the relationship

  • Old attachment wounds are affecting how you show up for each other

  • You’re navigating identity, sexuality, or non-traditional relationship structures

You don’t need to be in crisis to come to therapy. Many couples come to deepen their connection—not just to fix a problem.

How I work with couples

My approach to couples therapy is relational, attachment-informed, and emotionally focused. Rather than looking for who’s “right” or “wrong,” we’ll explore how each person’s history, nervous system, and emotional world is shaping the relationship dynamic.

Together, we’ll work on:

  • Understanding the cycle you keep getting stuck in

  • Naming unmet needs and the vulnerabilities underneath them

  • Building more emotional safety and attunement between you

  • Finding new ways to communicate, repair, and reconnect

I come to this work with genuine curiosity and a real belief that relationships can change, particularly when patterns are truly understood, not pathologized.
